Friday, Feb 24 – 8:30AM
Saturday, Feb 25 – 9:00AM
We’ll again start at Curzon’s Mill in West Newbury at the end of Emery Lane. Don’t block the driveway leading into the SSJE hermitages, because there’s plenty of room to park along the far side. We will follow a couple of beautiful wooded trails along the river and tributaries AND THERE MAY BE TICKS, so wear long pants and boots.
The trail is on the south side of the road, and was very inviting and clear, passing through stands of huge white pines and hugging the meandering curves of the Artichoke River. There’s a wide bridge and another section of trail we will check out on Friday. No snow means most all our usual winter time pursuits are on hold: a year ago we were wwwwwalking on snowshoe and cross country skis, remember? And this year neither sled dog races nor winter carnival are likely events. Guess we’re meant to take advantage of these bright days and frozen ground to access new places.

Cyd Raschke is offering a free class of cardio exercise followed by luxurious stretching. She will explore the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts in Turbo Fire–as trainer Chalene Johnson describes:
“In High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), you’ll work out at your max for up to 1-minute intervals with quick periods of rest to ignite your metabolism and burn 9x more fat than with traditional cardio. The AfterBurn effect will have you burning extra calories for up to 24 hours after your workout.”
Because the workouts are shorter, it allows time for extra stretching to keep the time under an hour on your busy weeknights. And as always, Cyd will highlight a low-impact version of all moves.
